Online Business Discovery

In our first few meetings, we discussed Heart the Hemp's business goals and the state of the current legal cannabis market. I devised a plan for what the new site would need for the initial site launch. I created a UX site map to show essential pages and their structural relationships.

Keyword & Competitor Research

I did thorough keyword research and identified 'cbd products' as the top keyword in their market. By auditing their competitors websites on Google page #1 for that keyword, I had a baseline to make the right decisions to establish a strong new brand from the beginning.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

I used the keyword research to properly plan the site page relationships and target the best keywords for product pages and blog articles. Because Facebook and Google still block legal cannabis advertising, blog traffic will be especially important for them as time goes by.

Brand Strategy

Although Heart the Hemp had a good start on a visual brand from another vendor, it is even more important to clearly define their verbal brand. I designed the website and content around the description, tagline, and value proposition with features and benefits.

Web Copywriting & Editing

The brand strategy sessions gave me the foundation for the rest of the content I needed to build the website. Dawn from Heart the Hemp is their in house copywriter, and we all worked together to get the initial site content ready for publishing.

Conversion Driven Page Layouts

The initial Heart the Hemp website has two main conversion goals: selling products with eCommerce to retail customers, and getting contacts from wholesale buyers through the contact form on the bottom of the Home page. I carefully designed the page layouts to optimize for both markets.

Visual Brand Design

Heart the Hemp had an existing logo and some brand graphic assets when they approached me. We started with these assets, created a complementary color palette and design concepts, and developed a strong distinctive visual brand for their website and marketing.

Custom Site Coding

We used Elementor Page Builder on GeneratePress theme with Woocommerce to custom build the site from the strategy, branding and content work. We launched the site online using a thorough security, backup, performance and SEO checklist.

Consultation, Coaching & Site Care

All throughout the project we were happy to educate, coach, and assist Brian and Dawn with their questions and understanding their new website, and we continue to do so in our ongoing business relationship.

The Heart the Hemp website is unique and stands out against the top competitors in the legal cannabis health market. I continue to get enthusiastic compliments on the design of the website.

Brian and Dawn had their first retail buyer the day after I launched the site online. They are also receiving inquiries about their wholesale offers daily and signed their first customer soon after site launch.

I am continuing to expand the site with new pages and features, as well as optimizing the site to increase conversions and sales.
